I love the story of the little girl who showed her teacher a picture she painted of a tree. The tree was purple. The teacher said, "Sweetheart, I've never seen a purple tree, now have I?"
"Oh?" said the little girl. "That's too bad."
Don't you just love when you see something that catches your breath? A gorgeous still-life in a magazine, a kind act of one human to another, or a bit of music that stirs your soul! If you haven't made time in your day for these simple graces, you really must...it is inspiration stirring in you! Inspiration is our connection to our next greatest idea or the clarity we are seeking...if you haven't gotten any lately, maybe it is because you haven't ordered it. Order up some inspiration...pronto! These images I saw on a recent website were exactly what set me onto my next project, and yes, sorry John...there will be paint involved!
Inspiration can come from being together...collaboration and synergy...and it can also come when we quietly sit alone. Play with it...see where you meet it in your life. For me, my inspirations come from my home...the people, the spaces, the smells and sounds. Because I have a strong visual component, I get a thrill when the morning light is shining in and making our home look like something in a movie set. In my mind I am playing a soundtrack of orchestra music...a perfect day dream. Sometimes it lasts just for a moment...
So start checking in with yourself for the clues of what inspires you. Post images on your refrigerator or bathroom mirror. See what happens when we start working with the stuff of dreams...envisioning what our inspirations are calling us to be.
