for your soul...gratitude

If you haven't read the book, Style Statement: Live by Your Own Design by Carrie McCarthy & Danielle LaPorte...what are you waiting for?  Subscribe online to receive their updates of inspiration...sometimes you need that light in your week.  Here is one that was written two weeks ago...I read it again and am sharing it with you because it is so important.  Gratitude for ourselves and others...let this be the tone of our week...

Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy.~ Jacques Maritain
Who doesn’t want acknowledgment for a job well done, fabulous hair, good intentions, or great style? Yet we often unconsciously deflect the praise that could nourish our deepest cravings.

If and when you are complimented, receive it. Stand in the place where you are seen. Let it be all about you for a moment. Say thank you. A smile and a nod will do. Set out to compliment as many people as you can, including strangers. There are endless reasons to give out compliments, from providing good service to standing by your side through tough times. No matter how the recipient reacts, whether graciously or awkwardly, let it be. A smile and a nod will do.  Compliment yourself. Do it right now, before you head out to compliment the world around you. Think of a few great things about yourself and receive your own praise graciously. A smile and a nod will do.
A compliment is a gift, thank you very much.
